V8 Show & Swap Meet, Paeroa Racecourse

Saturday 18th February 2012

This is a popular day for the petrol heads and car enthusiasts that is always held the day before the “Battle of the Streets” bike races, so that people can come the day before and see the cars and stop over for the bike racing the next day.
Swap meet stalls are set up early in the morning ready for a day’s ‘trading’ and stalls selling other things join them for a marketplace atmosphere. Coffee carts and sausage sizzles fill the air with rich aromas and live music keeps the tempo of the day. The racecourse opens it’s bar to cater for those who want to “wet their whistle” with something a little stronger.

The V8 cars and motorcycles all gather at Puke Bridge by 10.30am before the parade through the main street of Paeroa at 11am where crowds line the streets to watch the spectacle. They then continue down Arney Street and Thames Rd to the Paeroa Racecourse to park up under the canopy of large trees where they are on display through to the afternoon. There is always a few competitions to enter, such as the fastest time to change a spark plug, and spectacular demonstrations or rides for all to enjoy.

This year will see a V8 chainsaw in action and rides in a monster truck.

Vehicles to assemble by 10.30am at Puke Bridge, Hubbard Rd. Entry $5 per vehicle.

Procession leaves at 11am and makes its way along Puke Rd, then Belmont Rd & Normanby Rd and then turns left into Arney St  and proceed all the way to the Racecourse on Thames Rd.

Procession arrives at the Paeroa Racecourse
approx 11.30am.

Public entry at gate $2
Plenty of free parking
