In this time where ‘Trade Me’ sales are taking over from the traditional retail antique shops, Paeroa takes position as being the “Antique Town of NZ”.
We still have nine or more shops selling Antiques & Collectables or second hand goods & furniture, so it’s a great place to come and browse on the weekends to find that special treasure you have been looking for. From “Time Traveller” specialising in watches & jewellery to the “Vintage & Retro” shop where you can buy a timeless gown for a special occasion right through to Arkwright’s Antiques where the sheer amount of items displayed in this shop will keep you busy poking around for hours.

The Antiques Weekend begins with a Vintage & Classic Car Parade down the main street on the Saturday morning at 11.00am. The parade makes its way into the centre of town to Wharf Street where the street will be closed off to ordinary vehicular traffic. There will be an old fashioned tea party complete with Devonshire scones and a barbecue for the boys,  topped off by all the cars arriving and parking up for judging and display for the afternoon. There will be old fashioned games such as stilts and marbles for the children to play. Cars are welcome to join in the Mystery Car Rally and have a little tour around the local countryside while following the instructions on the sheet provided to a destination where afternoon tea is available.

Sunday marks the running of an Antiques Roadshow at the Paeroa Memorial Hall, just like you see on TV where you can bring your treasures to be valued by the experts.

A good fun weekend where you are encouraged to bring out the best of the past, wear stylish clothes and drive beautiful cars from a bygone era.

Join us here in Paeroa for the Antiques Weekend.
