If you would like a challenge, we have got the perfect track for you!
The early morning start leads you up the winding sealed track, moving onto gravel and up into the Maratoto Valley, the course traversing this beautifully bushed valley has given those new intrepid explorers of the backcountry five great years of boundary pushing activity.

On foot or bike, we have the Challenge to meet your need.

The Challenge

There are 3 distances on offer, 21km, 10km and a fun 5km run.
  • 21Km "The Three Ridges" Start time Walk 08:30am
  • 21Km "The Three Ridges" Start time Run/Bike 09:30am
  • 10Km "Give it a Go" Start time 10:30am
  • 5Km "Fun Run" Start time 11:00am

21Km The Three Ridges:
Can be biked, run or walked. The 2009 times can be viewed on the 21Km results page, so check out your competition times to beat. We know there are plenty out there wanting to do a half marathon length race and this one features stunning bush, farmland and open ridges with great views.

21km MTB Three Ridges TEAM CHALLENGE Enter as a team of four for the 21km, each team member will complete 21km and be timed, their times added together - fastest overall time wins..... Interclub - Interschool - Interworkplace Challenge?

21km Three Ridges Run RELAY TEAM CHALLENGE (team of four) Using a 'Mascot' as your batten each runner does their part of the run and passes their 'Mascot' the next runner who is waiting at a predetermined destination - each person will run about 5-6kms.

10km GIVE IT A GO:
This can be biked, run or walked in every category there is plenty of competition, or just friendly supportive co-walkers as your mood/planning allows. Features a steep ridge climb and loop back over the paddocks to the Hikutaia School. Check out the 10Km results page.

The 5 km "Fun Run"
Designed for all those wanting to get involved in the spirit of this fantastic day. A gentle flattish course that may even involve a stream crossing. The age range is an appropriate 5 to 95 with all those outside this range requiring a companion for moral support.

If you would like a challenge, we have got the perfect track for you!

A reasonable level of fitness is expected of all attending athletes; Final decision on race day is subject to race safety officer approval. Safety comes before competition and all competitors are expected to assist each other if the need arises.
