Now in it’s sixth year, the ECHO Walking Festival is organized by Town Promoters, Information Centres, Sport Waikato District Sport Co-ordinators in the participating towns and districts, and the Department of Conservation.
There are four or five of these walks held in the Paeroa - Karangahake area each year and we encourage all people to come and participate in these guided walks in order to achieve the goals we have set for purpose of the festival:
To enable local residents & visitors to take part in walks in their local parks and reserves.
To highlight the benefits of regular exercise.
To increase awareness and use of local parks and reserves.
To promote local tourism
Through the Festival, we want to encourage all NZers to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, to appreciate the attractions of our region, and to keep fit and active.
Participants go in a draw to win several prize packages kindly donated by various businesses in the area. The walks cover a variety of grades and durations to cover all fitness levels. These walks are all free however we do appreciate a gold coin donation to help with the cost of running the event.
