Paeroa is lucky to have an eclectic mix of food choices especially when it comes to takeaways with Chinese, Thai, Indian and fabulous Italian pizzas prepared by our wonderful Greek expatriot. There is plenty of variety too, if you are looking for an a la carte menu where you can sit down and enjoy the ambience.

We did pride ourselves in supporting our local businesses by not having a fast food chain in Paeroa - aaah, but not any more! McDonalds and the golden arches have come to town!

Aquarius Restaurant & Takeaways – 82 Normanby Rd Phone: 07 862 8189 Paeroa's traditional fish & chip shop! Fresh fish, mussels (small or large quantities) & seafood available. Fish & chips and other takeaways are their specialty along with some yummy home made mussel fritters and cakes.  Roast meals with all the trimmings - $11.50.  Order "roasties" (potato, kumara, pumpkin) for those large gatherings. Open 8am - 9pm weekdays and 11am - 9pm weekends.
Big Café & Bakery – cnr Normanby Rd & Arney St (next to Coin Save) This bakery provides tables & chairs both inside and out where you can sit down & enjoy your food or just duck in quickly and choose from the self-service food cabinets.  anything from filled rolls to hot lamb shanks, apple pie to giant cookies and everything in between.  They also sell fresh made buns, bread and family size quiches & pies.
Coachman’s Café – 22 Belmont Rd (opposite the Paeroa Library) Phone: (07)862 7248 No stop in Paeroa in complete without a pie from the Coachman's!  Step back in time to good old home baked food, wholesome sandwiches & rolls and the best damn pies in the district, washed down with a cona coffee or traditional pot of tea.  Warm, friendly service from Bryce & Sharon who have owned the business for 20 years.  Found listed in the "Great NZ Pie Guide". Courtyard Café - 72 Normanby Rd Phone: (07) 862 7046 A small but tasty selection of food in this cute little cafe with a lovely covered courtyard out the back where you can sit back in the subtropical environment,warmed with a patio gas heater in winter, and enjoy a superb cup of Allpress coffee with a friend. Hours: 9am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday
Four Season’s Chinese Restaurant & Takeaways 70 Belmont Rd. Phone: (07) 862 7616 Specialist in Kiwi Style Chinese food - menu favourites are sweet & sour pork and chicken wings. A wide range of European takeaways, fish & chips, burgers etc available also. sit down meals or takeaway. Burton Hollis coffee. Dining room available for group parties. Jokers Icecream Parlour & Diner - 6 Puke Rd, Paeroa Phone:07 862 9109 Hot & cold cabinet food; blackboard menu; takeaways; roast meals. "Much More" icecream in a cone. Friday night special: fish & chips for $7. Covered courtyard seating. Open 7 days a week - 6am to 6pm or later.
Kumar’s Something Special - 74 Normanby Rd Phone: 07 862 6800 For an authentic taste of Indian cuisine, visit Santosh and Bindhu and sample their selection of beautiful food. Excellent friendly service, their fresh naan breads make an esential addition to the many tasty dishes on the menu and you can wash it down with a cooling mango lassi.  They also stock bulk spices and other cooking ingredients for the do it yourself cook, and a range of Indian cosmetics, rosewater & fragrant oils. Enquire about their cooking classes or traditional Indian dance classes with Bindhu. Open 11.30am till late, 6 days a week, closed Mondays.
Maru Sushi - 56-58 Belmont Road, Paeroa Our newest and freshest addition to town providing a wide variety of sushi and hot dishes.  They can supply takeaway platters for functions and business lunches.  For a healthy lunch and dinner, try Maru Sushi, open late.
L&P Café & Bar – 2 Seymour St (cnr SH2) Phone: (07) 862 7773 The replica of the iconic L&P bottle stands outside beckoning visitors arriving from the North to stop and sample some of the lovely dishes on offer from a menu board or counter food available during the day. Midway Burger Bar - 44 Belmont Rd Phone: (07) 862 8292 Who needs McDonald's when you have the nicest, fattest, freshest burgers right in the middle of town. A wide range of takeaways available, all made fresh with fresh ingredients. Midway pride themselves in a spotlessly clean premises. Mykonos Pizza & Pasta – 30 Belmont Rd Phone:07 862 6400 Jordan's attention to detail makes his pizzas the best I've ever tasted and pasta to die for!! All made fresh to order including the pizza bases, delicious special combinations as well as your usual flavours. This is a must when you are in Paeroa. The coffee machine looks like something out of  'Dr Who' and is worth seeing in action. You might even lie to add to Jordan's cap collection! Open - Monday, Wednesday & Sunday 5-9pm; Thrusday, Friday & Saturday 5-10pm. closed Tuesdays.

Ohinemuri Winery & Café - Moresby St, Karangahake. Hosts: Horst & Wendy Hillerich    Phone:07 862 8874 Ohinemuri Winery offers their range of award winning wines in the Karangahake Gorge. A lovely restaurant offering the best cuisine in a stunning setting. From wonderful farmhouse platters, grilled salmon fillet or delicious brunch menu to a decadent dessert, you are guaranteed to be wowed. Accommodation in the converted loft is also available.
